Over the course of this project, the biggest thing I have learned is effective communication not only with other team members, but also those who communicate differently than me. Such as individuals with disabilities. I learned that the way I communicate, while it may seem effective to me, might not be to others, such as me needing to be more descriptive with my words, providing others with a “verbal image”. My takeaway from this project relates to communication largely through me learning better ways to communicate with different groups of people. Beyond this class, i plan on using what i learned here in everyday life. Communicating effectively with all diverse groups of people goes way beyond just this class/project; it also feeds into my regular day to day life, as well as my career.

I learned a great deal about Aboriginal culture and its deep significance, gaining a better understanding of the traditions, values, and connections that shape Indigenous communities. I also developed stronger communication skills, especially when working with others online. This experience taught me how important it is to stay engaged, listen respectfully, and maintain consistent communication so that everyone feels valued and heard. These lessons will be useful not only in future classes but also in professional settings and everyday life, helping me connect with people in a more thoughtful, understanding, and meaningful way.

I learned how important it is to make websites and presentations accessible so that people with different disabilities can fully participate and understand the content. It showed me that true communication means reaching everyone, not just those without barriers, it’s about being clear, considerate, and inclusive in how we share information. I can use what I learned in future jobs or group projects by designing materials and communicating in ways that make everyone feel included and able to engage equally.

One thing I am taking away from all the research and making the website is how different all cultures are. You get to really see that in the United States with all the different cultures but most of the time they can get watered down with ours so you do no get to see the full story. It relates to communication because like our cultures we are all not the same whether thats how we act or think, so you need to be able to really explain why or what you are doing so everyone can be on the same page. I can use what I have learned in the future by clearly stating my thoughts and also being able to understand that everyone is going to think differently and that is completely okay!
